How to colorize via Color2Gray
10/26/06 at 18:45:09

Some people have asked how to colorize images after they've been set to show as grayscale with Color2Gray.

Proceed as follows (assuming you have Color2Gray installed):

http://www.rorohiko.com/color2gray.html

1) Place a color bitmap image (JPEG, PNG, TIFF,...)

2) Use Color2Gray to display it in grayscale (Right-click or Ctrl-click, then select menu API - Force Render as Gray)

3) Use the 'Direct Selection Tool' (the white arrow) from the Tool Palette to select the contents of the image box (the grayscale image). (DON'T use the 'Selection Tool' - it won't work. Make sure you use the 'Direct Selection Tool'. You can select this tool by typing the letter a on the keyboard).

4) Select 'Multiply' in the popup on the Transparency palette

5) Use the 'Selection Tool' (the black arrow) from the Tool Palette to select the image box (you can select this tool by typing the letter v on the keyboard). Click a swatch color on the swatch palette (this sets the background color of the box)

Your image is now colorized using the box's background color.

6) You can use the 'T' (Tint) slider on the colour palette to reduce the strength of the background color.
