This function should be available in InDesign. Simply select the page item(s) you want to export, select File - Export..., select JPEG, and in the 'Export JPEG' dialog, make sure you choose 'Selection'.

That should do the trick...

Have you tried the procedure I gave? The procedure I described works for just the selected items.

If you follows the steps I gave exactly it will export only the selected items, not the whole page.

The critical steps are

1) Make sure you select a page item before starting the procedure
2) Make sure you select 'Selection' on the dialog

if you do that, a standard InDesign will export just the selected item.
