Thanks for sending the document!
I've checked it out, and experienced the same issue you have seen.
However, I also tried to create a new document from scratch, using TextStitch, and then trying to open the document in various copies of InDesign without the Active Page Item Runtime installed, and in that case, the issue did _not_ occur.
From the document history I can see that the document you sent me has been around for a wee while - it was originally created October 14, 2005 using InDesign CS2 version 4.0.1. It's been re-saved a few times since; the last recorded save was September 9, 2006 from a version 4.0.4.
That means that there is a good chance that at some point in time, an earlier version of the Active Page Item Runtime (APIR) might have been installed - and some of the early versions of Active Page Item Runtime did cause the above issue.
So I think the following scenario might have occurred:
a) Install early version of APIR (with the bug), probably to try out one of our freebies b) Create document, save document. Document contains a flag that says MUST HAVE APIR INSTALLED ... time elapses ... c) Install new version of APIR (without bug). Open document - no issues become apparent. However, the flag is NOT cleared by InDesign. d) Open document in a copy of InDesign without APIR installed. InDesign notices flag left behind by early version of APIR and complains.
The problem is that once a document has been created while the buggy version of APIR was active, it will keep the (incorrect) flag and will keep causing dialogs in versions of InDesign without APIR installed.
To resolve the issue:
a) re-save the document as an InDesign Interchange file (with or without APIR installed) b) open InDesign Interchange file and re-save as a normal .indd file
Now you should have a copy of the .indd file that works OK whether InDesign has APIR installed or not...
Let me know if this fixes the problem for you...
Cheers,
Kris
