Intro
This product is not supported any more, and won’t be updated or bug-fixed. It is still available for download on an ‘as-is’ basis.
The ImpositionCompanion plug-in helps to overcome some limitations of InBooklet SE, which doesn’t impose correctly when a document contains objects that overlap two or more pages.
The ImpositionCompanion plug-in unlinks text threads and splits objects which overlap two or more pages. This allows the page order to be changed without problems.

Installation
Before you start installing, exit out of InDesign.
Please make sure you have a copy of the APID ToolAssistant plug-in installed. Make sure you install the proper plug-in for your version of InDesign since the plug-ins are mutually incompatible. The Windows CS5.x plug-ins also come with an additional folder with a parenthesised name which needs to be copied along.
If you already have an APID ToolAssistant plug-in installed (e.g. because you use one of our other plug-ins), make sure it is up-to-date.
You will be installing two separate, but related software products: ImpositionCompanion and APID ToolAssistant. ImpositionCompanion will continue to work when the APID ToolAssistant demo expires.
i.e You do NOT need to purchase a license for APID ToolAssistant.
Copy the ImpositionCompanion.spln into the same folder as the APID ToolAssistant plug-in (typically that will be the InDesign Plug-Ins folder). Don’t worry about the icon of the .spln file: it might not be a ‘regular’ icon, and that’s OK.

Usage
Open a document of your choice. Then check the API menu item that should sit on the menu bar for the new ImpostionCompanion menu.
Important: The ImpositionCompanion menu doesn’t appear in the API menu if there is no document currently open.
The ImpositionCompanion menu has two options:
- Unlink Stories – This will unlink all the text threads in the document
- Split Objects – This is an extension of the first option. It will first unlink all the text threads and then split any objects which overlap two or more pages.
You will be asked to save your original document if it has not been saved since the last modification. As an extra safeguard, all modifications will be done on a copy of the original document.
Important: This operation should only be performed when you have finished editing the document and are ready to impose. The copy of the document that is created by the ImpositionCompanion will be virtually unusable for any further editing. If you need to make any changes, you should go back to your original document, make the changes, and then run ImpositionCompanion again.
