Launch or re-launch InDesign, and as the program launches immediately hold down the Shift-Control-Option-Command keys (all keys in the lower left corner of your keyboard), until InDesign asks you if you want to reset the preferences.
If you weren’t fast enough, the dialog won’t show – in that case, exit and try again. Allow it to reset the preferences.
